Rockin the Reef, rocks the reef
Fri 14 Nov 2008
Presented by Airlie Beach Music, this year's Rockin the Reef was THE live music event for the Whitsundays in 2008. Headlined by Evermore with the David Flower Band, and DJ LA Walker, the very foundations of the reef were shaken as the hot sounds projected out over Pioneer Bay.
In all the event was looked great, sounded fantastic, and went very smoothly. The professionalism of the management, staging company, musicians and the Whitsunday Sailing Club is a credit to the event.
"Clear skies, perfect night temperatures and a huge moon provided the backdrop for a great night out", Tracy Goodwin said for Rockin The Reef. "We set out to provide the mold for a signature music event in the Whitsundays, using this great venue. There is nothing like it."
Indeed, the people enjoying the event had nothing but praise and included visitors from Ulladulla, Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast who had pre-purchased the tickets through the Whitsunday Reef Festival web site, produced by ChannelWhitsunday.com.
"Evermore put on a fantastic show", says John Nayler, one of the organising committee. "We bought Evermore back to the Whitsundays for the youth that missed out last year. Staging an all ages licensed concert has its challenges, but seeing the families, children and adults all enjoying themselves made it very much worth while."
Visitors were also known to come in from Townsville, Glendon, Mackay and elsewhere. Widely advertised, support even came from web site juggernaut "Wotif.com" who included the Whtisunday Reef Festival on their home page, exposing the event to 1.7M people over two weeks.
Whitsunday Reef Festival continues over the weekend, with the street parade, movies for the kids, Frocktails and Reef Fire Beach Party and more.
