Consider the Reef Rocked

Sun 23 Oct 2011

The Whitsunday Reef Festival reached a crescendo last night with Rockin the Reef bought to you by the Airlie Beach Main Street traders group. Many many sponsors made it possible to entertain an estimated 5000 people over an evening of musical diversity including The Black Sorrows, Paul Green and The Twine.

Leading the group of committed festival volunteers for the rockin the Reef was Stacy Harvey from Lotus/ Mama Africa who championed the cause of free live music in the central car park adjacent to the lagoon.

Through out the weekend, the fun has been centred right in the heart Airlie Beach, which has been  a keypoint of success in 2011. Street Parade, Friday night music, Fireworks, Sand Sculpting, Recyclable Regatta, Rockin the Reef, Family Fun Day and Chill in the Park, food stalls and carnival rides have seen a reunion and the Beach, Main Street and Lagoon with focused meeting and people movement through the almost famous car park. Some might draw conclusions about the importance of this space in the future of Airlie Beach, but there is no question that the Festival has been more successful held in the middle of town with the support of town.

Irrespective thanks go to the fantastic performances from The Twine, Paul Green and The Black Sorrows in conjuntion with the many volunteers, supporters and people that came out for a great night of musical entertainment.Main Street Traders Rockin
