Whitsunday Reef Festival is here and excitement is in the air! Whitsunday’s annual festival is four days of fun with something for everyone so come out and enjoy!
Get into the festival spirit. Business and community groups have the perfect opportunity to promote themselve’s and have some fun by entering the iconic Rotary Street Parade. Make a sand sculpture on the beach on Saturday or build a raft out of recycled materials and battle it out on the high seas of the lagoon in the Airlie Beach Hotel Recyclable Regatta. Other events throughout the weekend include the Starlight Movies at new venue Port of Airlie, a hilarious night of comedy at Capers and the not to be missed Porters Friday Night Fireworks on the foreshore where the whole community comes out in force to celebrate. Night markets, carnival rides and live music will be playing and the bar will be open all weekend in central Airlie Beach Car Park featuring the fabulous 6 piece Martini Club on Friday and an afternoon of blues and roots on Sunday. For the first time the Reef Festival will incorporate the iconic Great Whitsunday Fun Race and the party will be at the Sailing Club on Saturday Night with the Fun Race Pirate Party – a spectacle not to be missed!
There will be heaps of free events for the kids throughout the weekend - come down to the Telstra Family Fun Day on Sunday for fun and games on our beautiful foreshore and catch some lollies at the Rotary Street Parade. Another new event will be the all-ages party in the car park on Saturday evening straight after the street parade featuring performances by the talented youth of our community, djs and a silent disco.
